Located on Santa Fe’s historic plaza, the La Fonda Hotel was originally built in 1922 with numerous additions throughout the decades. The project involved the renovation of 164 guest rooms to meet both current building code requirements and guest expectations. Renovations included new walls, temperature controls, sound insulation, communication systems, new lighting, floor coverings, handcrafted furnishings, electrical wiring, window replacements, plumbing, and fire protection in the 1919 portion of the hotel. The project received the Heritage Preservation Award from the City of Santa Fe’s Historic Districts Review Board and Archaeological Review Committee.
